Recorded at Hemel Centraal (Belgium) & S.P.Q.R. (Germany).

'Interior war' (that's the translation of the German title) may seem like an ephemeral problem in times of actual, military war – yet it is very well possible that the dark electro labyrinths of this release don't just refer to the interior struggles of individual psychology, but actually to the information war with which states at war try to infiltrate the minds of their own subjects as well as those of their enemies. And which, as such, is simply one aspect of the war at large.

Brainquake from Belgium and Sven Phalanx have collaborated before, but this is their first CD release as a duo on attenuation circuit. With the driving electro beats and throbbing bass lines, the label ventures forward into unusually 'danceable' musical territory. Yet the dark and uneasy atmosphere and the cryptic, yet undeniably ominous samples are certainly 'uneasy listening' in the same sense as the more abstract, drone-like releases of the label. Like much of the label's catalogue, this is music that aims at making the terror of the contemporary world the subject matter of art instead of hiding it, yet without resorting to cheap 'shock-porn' tactics either.
